The holiday shopping season is on its way, leading many consumers to wonder how they can save a little money to help buy presents.
CNN notes there are a number of ways consumers can cut back on their monthly bills, thereby leaving additional funds in their holiday coffers. One of the main ways to do so, according to the news provider, is to discontinue spending money on things people don’t use.
“If you have not set foot in the gym since your New Year’s resolution, ditch it,” says CNN. “Cancel the subscriptions for magazines and papers you don’t read.”
The news organization also said increasing deductibles on auto insurance and home insurance policies will reduce premium payments. However, doing so also means consumers will have to pay more out of their own pockets if a problem should arise with their house or vehicle.
If they haven’t done so, looking to combine car and home policies through one provider may present discounts to consumers, which could help save in the long run.
Other tips holiday savers can follow include reducing cell phone service, taking a lunch to work and cutting down on entertainment costs.
